Carol Ann (Davis) Ketchum, 87 of Norman, passed away Friday August 11, 2023. She was born October 30, 1935, in Frederick, Oklahoma to Arlo (Skivey) and Mabel (Launsberry) Davis. She graduated from Norman High School in 1953. She loved planning and organizing her beloved Tigers class reunions and monthly lunches that continued until around 2020. She met the love of her life through a blind date with a navy boy, Billy Joe Ketchum, who was stationed in Norman, OK. He and Carol were married August 12, 1953. She held many jobs, including telephone switchboard, receptionist and different customer service positions. Most importantly, Mom and Grandma.
She and Billy loved going to the Moose Lodge with a group of friends most Friday nights to country line dance. She loved spending time with family in the summers at their favorite lake in Arkansas, camping and water skiing. Later they bought property at Lake Tenkiller and spent many days there. She loved her OU Sooners! They went to football games for many years and loved girls’ basketball and softball games. She was still an OU Softball season ticket holder. If she couldn’t be at the game she could be found in front of the TV yelling just as loud!
After retirement she and Billy were never far apart. She was very proud of being a Normanite her whole life and a graduate of Norman High. Her “classmates” were still her dearest friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Skivey and Mabel Davis; two brothers; three sisters; husband, Billy Ketchum; daughter, Kathy Kerr; and son-in-law, Calvin Gay. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Gay and partner Michael McCorkle of Norman; son-in-law, Les Kerr and wife Susan of Rockwall, Texas; grandchildren, Ricky Butler and wife Becky of Norman, Christi Butler of Sumner, Washington, Taylor Kerr of Plano, Texas, and Brittany Kerr of Fort Collins, Colorado; one great-grandson, Caleb Butler of Norman; and many more relatives and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to Valir Hospice with memorial contribution in the memo and mailed to 800 NW 6th Street #202 Oklahoma City, OK 73102.
