Carla Jo Sarisky was born February 23, 1948 in Martins Ferry, Ohio to Robert Elwood Clay and Helen May (Curtis) Clay. After a courageous battle with cancer, on June 10, 2021, she passed away in her home in Norman, Oklahoma.
After graduating from Kenmore High School in Akron, Ohio she began working for Gates and later Marsh McLennan insurance agencies. She became an insurance adjuster after working her way up the ranks. Carla married Ron Sarisky in 1973 and continued to live and work in Akron. She resigned in July 1978 when her husband Ron was transferred to Ghana, West Africa. They started their family with a daughter, Elizabeth and son, Matthew. Carla loved her animals, "Yaw," "Kotten," and "Doogie Bear," all dogs and a cat named "Fefe," to name a few. She enjoyed relaxing with a good Hallmark movie or British comedy and loved knitting special projects for friends and family; her monogrammed washcloths were a favorite of many. Carla was a great cook and spoiled her family with homemade spaghetti and chicken noodle soup, just to name a few. Her and Ron had several residences during their marriage due to job transfers. They began in Akron Ohio, then moved to Ghana (West Africa), Georgia, Illinois, Oklahoma, and Iowa. They finally retired to Florida in 2008, where they stayed for three years. Her favorite place was their one-year stay in Naples, Florida and the beautiful sunsets on the beach. Carla loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially her grandchildren, Stella and Jaxon, who she cared for until they entered preschool.
Carla was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Helen Clay, and her brother, Robbie Clay. She is survived by her husband, Ronald Sarisky; son, Matthew Sarisky of Ocala, FL; daughter, Elizabeth Olsen and Jason of Norman, OK; brother, Mark Clay and Ruth of Ft. Wayne, IN; brother-in-law, Michael Sarisky of Akron, OH; sister-in-law, Katherine Phillips and Frank of Greer, SC; two grandchildren, Stella Olsen and Jaxon Olsen; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Apex Home Health and Hospice for the wonderful care they gave Carla during the past year. A special thanks to her aide, Kristinia and nurse, Lori, who went above and beyond for her.
