Byron Ray Jacobson, Sr. beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away most unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 19, 2022. He was born on August 30, 1955 in Port Hueneme, CA to his loving parents, Russell Eugene Jacobson and Vivian Jane (Chase) Jacobson.
He married the love of his life, Cheryl Jacobson, on January 10, 1976 in Las Vegas, NV. They have been forever blessed with five beautiful children, their spouses and twelve grandchildren.
Byron began his career with the United States Postal Service in 1977. He began as a letter carrier in the San Fernando Valley area of California. Moving up the ladder quickly, this brought his family to make the move from California to Norman, Oklahoma as he accepted the position as Postmaster in 1990. He finished out his career with the postal service at the NCED in Norman.
Byron was ordained a Deacon for the Archdiocese of OKC on November 6, 1998. Following his retirement from the postal service, he faithfully served as the Pastoral Associate at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church until August 2018.
To say he was the perfect gentleman would be an understatement. He was a good listener, the voice of reason, honest and humble. Those blessed to know him, loved him. There are no words to express how much his family and friends will miss him.
Byron is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Cheryl Jacobson; sons, Byron Jacobson, Jr (Allie) of NC, Daniel Jacobson (Katie) of NC; daughters, Meredith McCornack (Kenny) of Norman, OK, Tanya Kohout (Bryan) of Norman, Becky Moran (Chasen) of Norman; mother, Vivian Jacobson; brother, Rusty Jacobson (Cheryl) of Basehor, KS; sisters, Tina Cunningham (John) of Yukon, OK, Nancy Hughes of Norman, OK; grandchildren, Madison, B.J., Alexis, Ashlyn, Charlee, Marshall, Eliot, Max, Ruby, Ryan, Madelyn, Jake; and a host of other family and many friends.
