Bob Byron Hunt passed peacefully from this life on January 29, 2018. Bob was born on May 14, 1930 in Maud, OK to C.L. Hunt and Ozelia (Oxley) Hunt. Bob grew up in Tulsa, OK and graduated from Tulsa Central High School, where he lettered in basketball and played in the band. Bob attended the University of Okla. He played college basketball and was a proud member of the Pride of Oklahoma Marching Band. He also was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity and ROTC.
Bob graduated in 1953 with a degree in Petroleum Engineering. In 1954-56 he served his country in the U.S. Army as a 1st Lieutenant, then continued his education and received his Master’s in 1958.
After college, Bob was employed by Marathon Oil Co. as a production engineer. In May of 1960 he became a Senior Production Engineer with Continental Oil Co, and in 1966 he proudly founded his own company, Hunt Engineering, Inc, in Norman, OK.
On June 26, 1955, Bob married Dorothy (Dot) Kees in a beautiful garden wedding. This special union gave the world three fantastic kids: Ronald Kent, Julie Kay, and David Alan.
Bob loved his family, his work, playing golf, and OU football!!
Bob is survived by: his wife of 62 years, Dorothy; son Kent Hunt and wife June; daughter Julie Carnes and husband George; son David Hunt and wife Rori; grandchildren: Christa, Daisy and husband Michael; Devin and wife Ashlin; Brennan, Kysar, and Joeci; Stephanie and husband Josh; and Bryan; and great-grandchildren McKinnley, Kevin, Emmett, Vinnie, and Gracie.
Bob’s family invites you to a celebration of Bob’s life on Friday, February 2, 2018 at 10:00am at First Presbyterian Church of Norman (555 University Blvd).
Memorial contributions in honor of Bob’s life may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or to the charity of your choice.
