Barbara Lou Pennybaker was born February 8, 1940 in Seminole, Okla., to Raymond Earmond Robbins, Sr. and Violet D. (Drewry) Robbins. She was welcomed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 20, 2021.
Barbara married Anthony Pennybaker on May 30, 1959 at First Baptist Church, Seminole. They have lived in Norman since 1959 and are members of First Baptist Church, Norman. They raised three sons. She worked at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Norman and the Dycus-Camp Clinic in Moore. She retired in 2001 from the Baptist Student Union at OU after 20 years. She subsequently worked part-time jobs at Physicians Surgical Center, Turner Primrose Law Firm, Mardel, and Gymboree at Sooner Mall.
Barbara enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She loved students and children, in general. She taught Sunday school in the children’s departments and led children’s choirs for many years at Bethel Baptist Church.
Barbara’s lifelong avocation was singing. She was in the Bisonette Glee Club at OBU from 1957-1958 and sang in church choirs 62 years from age 11 through 2013. She was a 23-year charter member of the Singing Churchwomen of Oklahoma and enjoyed mission/concert trips to Brazil, Romania and Hungary.
She was a devoted wife, mother, and friend to many and will be remembered for her selfless and loving heart.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Raymond Robbins, Jr. and sister-in-law, Shirley Robbins.
She is survived by her husband; three sons, David and wife Sara Pennybaker, of McKinney, Texas; Jerry and wife Yolanda Pennybaker, of Moore; Robert (Bobby) and wife Lu Ann Pennybaker, of Sand Springs; six grandchildren, Jazzlyn and husband Tyler Brewer, Allison Pennybaker, Jaden and wife Kendal Pennybaker, Elizabeth, Jaclyn, and Nathan Pennybaker; great-grandson, Jace Brewer; brother, Gary and wife Linda Robbins, of Chickasha, and sister Joann and husband Jim Bagby, of Kansas City, Mo.; three aunts and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

There will be a visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Tribute Memorial Care, 708 24th Ave NW, Event Center, Norman. Graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 28 at Green Hill Cemetery in Davis, Okla. A memorial service will be deferred to a later date.
