Al Loibl, 74, passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at his home.
Born in Alliance, Nebraska, Al was the son of Aliva and Lorene Loibl. He graduated in June 1965 from Glenrock High School in Glenrock, Wyoming and immediately entered the Army in the Special Forces. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam as a supply officer and reached the rank of Sergeant. After the military, he settled in Norman and married the love of his life, Sue Straughan. He was a master salesman and also shepherded groups around the country as a bus driver.
He was a member of Norman First Assembly of God in Norman and served on the board for many years. He will be remembered for the hundreds of young men that he guided through the Royal Rangers program. They will always remember the camping trips, rappelling, Pinewood Derbies, and scuba lessons, and his lessons in character-building will never be forgotten.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sue, of the home, adopted-at-heart son Brandon Reynolds and wife Pamela of Norman, sister-in-law Peggy Wright and husband Tommie of Mead, Oklahoma, granddaughter-at-heart Jasmine Reynolds of Norman, numerous nieces, nephews, dozens of Ranger sons as well as many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Patricia Blackwell of Commerce City, Colorado, and brother, Bruce Loibl of Glenrock, Wyoming.
