Roger Lee Smith of Glencoe, Oklahoma was born to Jesse Lee and Bonnie Mona (Blassingame) Smith on January 7, 1951 in Kermit, Texas. He went to be with the Lord on June 18, 2018 at the age of 67.
Roger married the love of his life, Gay Lynn Maxey, on April 24, 1981 in Gainesville, Texas. The couple eventually made their home in Glencoe, where they had a large homestead. When he wasn’t taking care of the farm, Roger worked as a jewelry wholesaler, specializing in diamonds and rings. Roger enjoyed being outside, whether he was farming, hunting deer, or fishing for small mouth bass, but his first love was his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He loved flying down the open road, and he was a member of the “Sober Psychos” motorcycle group. One of Roger’s proudest accomplishments was recently getting his 35-year chip from Alcoholics Anonymous.
Roger absolutely adored his three granddaughters and came up with special nicknames for each of them: Giuliana was “Peanut”, Sawyer Mae was “Scooter”, and Kynlee was “Goober”. The girls loved riding around with him on the tractor and working in the barn, and they will always cherish the memories of going to the WONDERtorium with him in Stillwater.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Gary Smith. He is survived by: wife Gay Lynn Smith of Glencoe, son Frank Jesse Smith of Mustang, Oklahoma and his daughter Giuliana Rose, son Jesse Smith of Moore, Oklahoma and his daughters Sawyer Mae and Kynlee Lynn, and brother Richard Smith of Norman, Oklahoma.
