Mary "Sue" (Lawrence) Sasnett

Mary “Sue” (Lawrence) Sasnett, 86, of Mustang, OK entered the presence of the Lord Jesus on Monday, April 4, 2022, in Oklahoma City, OK. She was born on September 23, 1935, in Bengal, OK to W.E. Bill and Zella Mae (Cogburn) Lawrence.
Her interests varied from crocheting in her senior years, to enjoying the lake when she was younger and teaching countless numbers of family and friends to waterski. One of her favorite TV shows was Dancing with the Stars. Her granddaughters spoke of her teaching them how to jitterbug. Being a small-town country girl, she grew up playing and enjoying basketball and was a devoted fan of Thunder basketball.
Sue’s temperament and gifts were for serving others. For most of her adult life she worked in the field of nursing. In every place she earned the reputation of a hard worker and providing excellent care for her patience. At 80-years of age she was recognized and received an award for the oldest Certified Nursing Assistant. The greatest requirement to be a CNA is a big heart and a caring spirit. Sue epitomized this heart and spirit.
Her sense of right and wrong made her for the underdog. She defended her family and friends with a warrior spirit. Sue’s servant spirit was displayed as a member of the Eastern Star. Her love for fun is illustrated in her enjoyment of bowling and leading her children to be members of children bowling leagues. Of all the things she loved the most it was her family and playing with her grandkids. Family and friends all knew of her generosity.
Sue is preceded in death by her parents, W.E. Bill and Zella Mae (Cogburn) Lawrence; grandson, Daniel Sasnett; sisters, Inez Walker, Berniece Lawrence; and brother, Charles Lawrence. Sue is survived by her children from her marriage with Marvin Sasnett. Her children are son, Ed Sasnett and wife Carol of Norman; daughters, Brenda Sasnett of Norman, Kay Love and husband Danny of Mustang, OK; brothers, John Lawrence of Leflore, OK, and Junior Lawrence and wife Linda of Red Oak, OK.
Sue had nine grandchildren: Jennifer Wilson, Laura Vanbebber, Amy Spear, Daniel Sasnett (deceased), Sarah Neal, Danetta Wheeler, Desa Holland, Amber Rich, and Brandi Baker. Her grandchildren blessed her with 19 great grandchildren. She leaves behind a host of friends.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the building fund of Northeast Baptist Church, Norman, Oklahoma.
