Lois Elaine Parkman

April 27, 1932 — January 31, 2022

Lois Elaine Parkman, 89, of Norman passed away Monday, January 31, 2022. She was born April 27, 1932 in Douglaston, New York to Lillie and Kimball Holloway. She moved with parents from New York to Dallas in 1953. In 1956 she met and married her love James “Jim” C. Parkman. She worked in at the University of Oklahoma, College of Law and as the Secretary at Norman High School 1973-1975 for then principal Jim Riley. Leaving the workforce, she took up the game of golf, playing at Twin Lakes and Westwood Golf Course. In her love of the game, she acquired many trophies, awards and hole in ones and winning various golf championships. It was 30 years ago this year she won her last Westwood Club Women's Championship.
For the last ten years, she was a resident of Grace Living Center and in the last two years was a part of the Norman Public Schools elementary classroom providing integration of residents and children. The biggest highlight for her was the opportunity to read to the children. Also, an avid knitter, she was always knitting hats for the children and for residents at Grace.
She is preceded in death by her husband Jim; her parent; her sister Dorothy Shiebler and husband Jack: and her nephew Gary Shiebler. Lois is survived by her children, Lisa Parkman, and Jamie Parkman and his wife Dody; and her grandchild Jake Parkman.
Due to COVID a private family service will be held at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. Because she had such a great love of dogs, memorial contributions can be made to Second Chance Animal Sanctuary, Inc at secondchancenorman.com, scasnorman2020@gmail.com or 405-321-1915, or the Norman Public Schools Foundation.
