Grant Vincent

James Grant Vincent died on December 31, 2018 in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 63. Grant was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend who showed kindness to everyone around him. His life was defined by his unconditional love and unyielding determination to help others. He could always make those he was helping feel that, no matter what happened, things were going to be alright.

Grant was born on September 22, 1955 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and graduated from Bartlesville Sooner High School in 1973. He was the fifth of six children, and the first one in his family to choose OU instead of OSU. He graduated from OU with a degree in Elementary Education, but ultimately chose a different career path running Ala Carte Courier for almost 25 years. While attending OU he met the love of his life, Stephanie, and they were married in January 1982. He and Stephanie raised their children in Norman over the next 36 years, and he demonstrated his love for his family through selfless acts of kindness every single day. He loved his grandsons Grant and Clark, and he made both of them light up every time they saw him. He loved all things music: listening, playing, and sharing that passion with others. His laughter was infectious and could always find a way to make the day better through humor.

Grant is preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Kathleen Vincent, his parents, Patrick and Phyllis Vincent, his father-in-law, Dr. Don F. Rhinehart, his grandmother-in-law, Zelma Thigpen, and his sister, Barbara Snow. He is survived by his wife Stephanie, daughters Kelli and Marni, son Evan, daughter-in-law Beth, grandsons Grant and Clark, his brothers Mike, David and Eddie, his sister Jane Rogers, and many nieces, nephews, and members of his extended family whom he loved very much.

A Rite I Requiem Eucharist will be held for Grant on Saturday, January 5 at 1pm at St. Paul’s Cathedral in Oklahoma City, followed by a light reception on the Cathedral campus.
