Anna Lee Hixon

Anna Lee was born August 19, 1921 in Wagoner, Oklahoma, the daughter of James Howell and Lois Sarah (Young) Nunn. She passed away peacefully at her home Monday evening, December 28, 2020, and is at home with her Savior and family.
Anna Lee attended school in Wagoner until moving to Elk City and then Oklahoma City. She met and married Fay E. Hixon in Oklahoma City in August, 1940. They spent the next 50+ years in OK, KY, TX and back to OKC. She moved to Norman in 2000.
She was a homemaker throughout their marriage. She was a wonderful mother to sons Steve and George. When she was not making a home for them, she was watching their activities on golf courses and in tournaments. While she didn’t play herself, she was a spectator extraordinaire. Each time they came in from the course she wanted to hear about their game. After moving to Norman in 2000, she became a fan of OU football and basketball. She never missed an OU game on TV.
Anna Lee was passionate about her heritage and with her sister took many trips researching their genealogy. She made several trips to Washington, D.C. for her Oklahoma Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) where she served as Regent from 1984-1986. The Oklahoma Chapter’s Motto is “God, Home and Country”. She traced her ancestors from England to the Colonies. She was a member of: The National Society Daughters of the American Colonists, Mayflower Descendants, Order of Descendants of Colonial Physicians and Chiirurgiens 1607-1783, National Society Descendants of Early Quakers, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, Oklahoma City Chapter, Honorary Regent 1984-1986, The National Society of the Dames of the Court of Honor (Oklahoma Society), Oklahoma Society of Mayflower Descendants, Hereditary Order of Descendants of Colonial Governors, Dames of the Magna Carta, and the First Families of the Twin Territories.
She was a true proper “Lady” exemplifying kindness and respect for everyone she came in contact with. Her family will miss her greatly.
She was baptized in the Methodist Episcopal Church South and a member of Crown Heights Methodist Church when she lived in Oklahoma City. In 2000, she became a member of First Baptist Church Norman.
Survivors include her son; George of Tulsa, daughter-in-law; Judy Hixon of Norman, grandson; Steve E. Hixon of Norman, grandson: John Hixon and wife Anna of Lewisville, Tx, great granddaughters; Valin and Vella of Lewisville, Tx, nephew; Bruce Goodman and wife, Carol of Boulder, CO, and Mindy (the cat).
She was preceded in death by her husband; Fay E. Hixon, father; Howell Nunn, mother; Lois Nunn, son; Steven Howell, sister; Mary Frances Goodman.
